Details

The search for shapes that are both sculptural and functional for furniture, in products destined for large-scale production, is a constant in Ron Arad’s design philosophy. Thanks to Magis’ leading-edge technology, this idea has taken on a range of different, original and unmistakable forms, including Raviolo armchair, created from a single strip of rotational moulded polyethylene. Raviolo is available in a large range of colours and therefore it looks equally at ease in any environment, domestic and contract, indoor and outdoor. Year: 2011.

Born in Tel Aviv in 1951, educated at the Jerusalem Academy of Art and later at the Architectural Association in London, Ron Arad co-founded the design and production studio One Off in 1981 with Caroline Thorman and later, in 1989, Ron Arad Associates architecture and design practice. In 2008 Ron Arad Architects was established alongside Ron Arad Associates. In 1994 he established the Ron Arad Studio, a design and production unit in Como, Italy, in operation until 1999. Ron Arad’s constant experimentation with the possibilities of materials such as steel, aluminium or polyamide and his radical re-conception of the form and structure of furniture has put him at the forefront of contemporary design and architecture.

Magis was established in 1976 in the north east of Italy, one of Europe's most dynamic industrial areas. Its success is based on the desire to provide a broad swathe of users with access to high functional and technological quality products for the home, developed in partnership with major international designers, with a vision of the resulting products that is ethical and poetic as well as aesthetic.

Magis products are dedicated to their international public and are all 100% “Made in Italy”: a guarantee of high quality, in line with the firm's tradition, which has developed from its craftsmanship and cultural roots, through the evolving styles and industrial growth of the eighties and nineties, and continues to comprise one of the company's greatest and most valuable assets.
